Fred C. Ray Sr.

Fred C. Ray Sr., 78, of Dixon, IL, passed away on April 24, 2015 at Serenity Hospice House in Oregon, IL. He was the son of Archie Ray and Anna Grace (Poulsen) Ray, born January 9, 1937. Fred was married to his beloved wife Fay Turner on March 12, 1954 at Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion where they were both members. Fred served in the United States Army Reserve with the 85th Division Band, was a member of the Zion Junior Chamber of Commerce, member of the Zion Exchange Club, and served on the board of directors for the Zion Park District as well as the Lake County Society for Human Development (later known as Northpoint Achievement Center). Fred was also employed at the Zion State Bank serving as the Executive Vice President of the bank. Fred became owner and operator of Chateau Estates Mobile Home Park in Dixon, IL for many years. Fred was also a proud member of the Rock River Valley Barbershop Chorus. Singing in the chorus and in a quartet were highlights of his later years. Fred and Fay also enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. Survivors include his wife Fay; son Fred Ray Jr. of Zion, IL; two daughters Penny Ray of Dixon, IL and Cindy Ray of Antioch, IL; one grandchild David Ziemke of Dixon, IL; also two brothers Ken (Diane) Ray of Loudon, TN and David (Virginia) Ray of Bristow, OK. He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother Jim Ray. Services are private for the family at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. The family requests no flowers, but memorial donations to Kreider Services, P.O.Box 366, 500 Anchor Road, Dixon, IL 61021 would be appreciated.
