G. Edward Hucker, 80, of Beach Park, IL, died on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Clare Bridge Assisted Living in Kenosha, WI.
He was born April 24, 1932 in Waukegan, IL, graduated from Waukegan Township High School and attended Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL. He served with the United States Army from 1952 until 1954 and was stationed in Germany. On August 6, 1955 he married Jean Sills of Sheboygan, WI in Sheboygan, and together they were former members of Faith United Methodist Church of Waukegan, IL. Ed worked for his father at Hucker Electric and took over ownership of the company in 1961, retiring 35 years later. He loved the Northwoods and his cabin in Minocqua, WI.
Ed was a Charter Member of Young Men's Fellowship Halfway House in Waukegan, served as a Scout Leader of Boy Scout Troop 79 in Beach Park, served on the Y.M.C.A. Camp Jorn Committee, was a member of Waukegan Jaycee's, served on the advisory Board of the Salvation Army, was Chairman of the Waukegan/Lake County Chamber of Commerce, was a member of Waukegan Exchange Club, served as Trustee for Benton Township for 22 years, and was a member of and served on the Board of Directors of Bo-Di-Lac Improvement Association in Minocqua, WI.
Survivors include children William (Kimberley) Hucker of Winthrop Harbor, IL, John (Carrie) Hucker of Beach Park, IL, Robert Hucker of Lakeville, MN, and Kristen (Robert) Cade of Beach Park, IL; eight grandchildren Kellie Hucker, Daniel (Brenda) Hucker, Brittany Weiler, Justin Hucker, Ashley Weiler, Nathan (Katie) Hucker, Amy (Ryne) Seghers, and Ethan Cade; and three great-grandchildren Christian, Cayden, and Aiden Hucker.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jean on February 28, 2012; and his parents George and Ruby Hucker.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 30, 2012, from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 p.m.
