Geneva O. Rowland

Geneva O. Rowland, 82, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at home. She was born September 18, 1932, in Red Bay, AL, and was a long time member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Zion, IL. Geneva was retired from GBC in Northbrook. God came first in her life and she also adored her children and grandchildren. She loved to paint, read her bible, walk, and spend time with her family and friends. Survivors include her children, Jack (Diane) Rowland of Salem, WI, Robin Rowland of Winthrop Harbor, Robert Dale Rowland of Winthrop Harbor, Mike (Sandra) Rowland of Zion, and Karen Shelton of Winthrop Harbor; grandchildren, Jason (Kelly), Derek (Nora), Nicole, Trevor (Taylor), Trisha, Justin, Jena, and Val; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Roland (Bobbi) Shelton of MI, Randall (Heather) Shelton of Zion, Curtis (Sarah) Shelton of MS; sister, Mary (Ned) Olmstead of S. Car, sisters-in-law, Shirley, Thelma, and Mary Helen Shelton; numerous nieces and nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by her father, J.G. Shelton; mother, Cora Shelton; grandson, David Rowland; sister, Clara Shelton; brothers, Ray, James Maynard, and Jimmy Shelton; and nephew, Tommy Shelton. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Geneva ‘s final resting place will be at Ramble Creek Cemetery, Big Sandy, TN. Memorial donations are suggested to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Feed the Children.
