George "Bud Hyllberg, 85, of Zion, died on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at his home.
George was born July 1, 1921 in Waterford, Wisconsin, and has lived in the Zion/Winthrop Harbor area since the age of 12. He graduated from Waukegan Township High School and he served in World War II as a radio operator aboard aircraft carriers in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans for four years. He retired from Teamsters Local 301 and the former City Lumber Company of Kenosha, Wisconsin as a salesman.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vivian (nee Hoyt); two sons Bruce (Karen) Hyllberg of Gurnee, Illinois and Brian (Inez) Hyllberg of Jacksonville, Florida; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother Rev. James Hyllberg of Racine, Wisconsin; and one sister Alice Hyllberg of Springfield, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Marie Hyllberg; four sisters Helen Welling, Leona Liddle, Elsie Hillestad and Marilyn Hyllberg; and two brothers Clarence and Charles.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2006, at 5:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion where the family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until time of services.
