George A. Jackson, 91, passed away on December 2, 2024 in Waukegan, Illinois surrounded by his loved ones.
George was born on April 17, 1933 in Moberly, Missouri to Herbert and Welcome (Hurley) Jackson. Upon graduation George worked for the Railway for a year before moving to North Chicago/Waukegan area, then working for the Great Lakes Naval base as a janitor. He dedicated his life to Jehovah in 1953 and remained faithful to his death.He met Jessie Tuggle at a JW convention and shortly after were married on April 21, 1956 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Jessie said what she loved about George is he walked around with Bible under his arm. God's Word was so very precious to him.
After working at the Naval base George worked for Abbott for over thirty - six years until his retirement from the warehouse. George was known for his helpful and compassionate personality, he knew so many people in the community, and at Kingdom Halls. George was an elder for Waukegan Central Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses, where he was a minister and helped people to come to an accurate knowledge of our Creator. He quoted scriptures and verse by memory. It was often said " George has the entire Bible memorized".
He is survived by his two daughters, Robin (John) Sorg, and Leah Schimenti; five grandchildren, Wesley Sorg, Amber Sorg, Jourdon Sorg, Maresia Creek, Jabreil Creek; two great-grandchildren, Lovely, and Ambrielle; two sisters, Sylvia Ganaway, and Emma Darlene Davis; two brothers, Thomas (Lillian) Jackson Sr., and Don Carl Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and spiritual sons and daughters.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie (Tuggle) Jackson; parents, Herbert and Welcome Jackson; brother Wayne Jackson; and cousin "Sister" Gwendolyn Jackson.
Memorial arrangements for George Jackson will be in 2025. The family Thanks everyone for their love and concern.
