Gerald Leburn Boyd

Gerald (Jerry) Leburn Boyd, a retired business owner died peacefully, at the age of 87, at his home in Palm Coast, Florida on December 11, 2024 He was born November 7, 1937 in Waukegan, Illinois to Dr. Leburn Boyd and Lyle Bakkala. Jerry is survived by his wife Polly Ford of 39 years; children Gerald Todd Boyd (Lisa), Colbert, Georgia, Kelly Arlene Bailey (Rev. Chris), Colbert, Georgia; Step Children, Leslie Richman Spradlin (Greg), Naples, Florida; Scott Richman (Eva), Kihei, Hawaii; brother Dr. Brian Boyd (Mirna), Deerfield Creek, Florida. Uncle, Lemuel Boyd (Patti), Lead Hill, Arkansas, grandchildren, Rev. Jackson Bailey (Aleah) Danielsville, Ga, Jordan Bailey and Avery Bailey, Colbert, Ga, Cody Boyd (Sierra) Colbert, Ga, Jarrett Boyd, Colbert, Ga; Step grandchildren, Alanna Richman (Terry), Murphy, NC; Taylor Lockrem (Zach), Naples, Fl. 

Jerry graduated from Zion Benton Township High School in Zion, Ill in 1955 where he was a member of the ''ZeeBees" basketball team, and attended Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois. He moved to Fort Lauderdale Florida in 1961 and was employed by Retail Credit as an Insurance Investigator before founding J & J Chemical Company in 1967. Upon his retirement the company moved their headquarters to Athens, Ga. Jerry served in the Army Reserve for 6 years . He was a very proud father, grandfather and an awesome, loving husband who enjoyed Christmas skiing with his family and friends; an avid golfer who never missed an opportunity for a round of golf and thoroughly enjoyed the times that all the Boyd men played together. Second to golf was attending stock car races and If there are race tracks in Heaven he will be on the front row rooting for his favorite driver. He will be missed immensely by his family, friends and Yoshi, his cookie eating buddy. Jerry will live on eternally in our hearts from the joys and memories we shared as a family. 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on January 11, 2025 at Crossroads Community Church, 550 Harve Mathis Rd., Athens, Georgia. 

Memorial donations may be made in Jerry's name to the Crossroads Community Church., Athens, Georgia. 

Craig Funeral Home in St Augustine, Florida is handling the cremation.
