Gerald "Jerry" Henderson, 71, of Zion, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at his home.
He was born May 25, 1936 in Waukegan. Jerry served with the United States Army in transportation at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He retired in the mid 80's from Johnson Motors, later worked for Kauffman Machinery in Waukegan and finally retired this year from Metalex Corporation of Libertyville. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, gardener and he gave his family the love of the outdoors. Jerry lived for his family.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marvanelle; daughters, Sherry (Dennis) Beall of Zion, Susan Henderson of Zion and Lori (Peter) Brown of Benton, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Lt. JG Kenneth Gilmore, Spec Nicholas (Ashley) Gilmore, Megan Brown, Cole Henderson and Emma Brown; one great-granddaughter, Mariah Gilmore; and one sister, Virginia Frieden of Zion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Lettie Henderson; and one brother, Donald.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 1, 2008, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral
Home. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
