Gerald A. Jenelewicz

Gerald A. Jenelewicz, 70, of Winthrop Harbor, IL died on Monday, January 30, 2017 at home. Gerald was born September 13, 1946 and raised in Waukegan. On September 21 1968 he married Donna Goetz of Wildwood, IL. Together they moved to Winthrop Harbor in 1979. Gerald retired from Commonwealth Edison in 2002 after 34 years. He loved buying old cars and restoring them and he also enjoyed drag racing at Union Grove, WI. Gerald had his own racing club, The 9 Second Club of Union Grove. He also belonged to The 1320 Club. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Donna; one daughter Lisa (Bill) Thumme of Loves Park, IL; four grandchildren Jordan Hook, Caleb Thumme, Garrett Thumme, and Christian Thumme; one sister Judy Zaugra of Waukegan, IL; one brother Edward Jenelewicz; and nieces and nephews Joseph Zaugra, Michelle Jenelewicz, Michelle Axberg, and Shane Axberg. He was preceded in death by his son James Jenelewicz; one brother Mike Jenelewicz; and his parents Edward and Louise Jenelewicz. A celebration of life visitation/service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Meadowridge Baptist Church, 4500 IL Route 173, Zion, IL.
