Gladys H. Ashley, 89, a resident of Zion for 66 years, died on Friday, May 16, 2008, at Arbor View Nursing Home in Zion.
Gladys was born March 31, 1919, in Brazil, TN, to Jake and Nora Magee, and was a member of Christian Fellowship Baptist Bible Church in Zion. She was a loving mother and was 'Grandma' to many people. Gladys had a great sense of humor and absolutely enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include three sons, Ray (Barb) Lowrance of Goreville, IL, Chuck (Sharon) Lowrance of Wadsworth, IL, and Nick (Ann) Ashley of Zion, IL; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Bob Wise of Waterloo, WI; and daughter-in-laws, Rose (Bill) Barnes and Vicki (Don) Scanlon, both of Pleasant Prairie, WI.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, W.G. Lowrance; second husband, Nicholas Ashley; daughters, Martha Wise and Geneva Long; sons, Daniel and Jack Lowrance; granddaughter, Debbie Oglesby; and grandson, Lenny Engle.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, with Rev Alma Cordova of Wesley Methodist Church of Waukegan, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Tuesday, May, 20, 2008, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
