Glen Edgar Johnson, 90, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who embraced his family and life with great enthusiasm, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2008, in Waukegan.
He was born January 31, 1918, in Chicago, and served in the United States Navy during World War II. Glen was past Director of Operations at L.J. Sheridan & Company, a lifetime member of American Legion Post #320 in Skokie, and former board and choir member at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and St. Timothy's Lutheran Church (both in Skokie). He was a diehard Cubs fan and storyteller extraordinaire.
Glen will be fondly remembered by the love of his life and wife of 67 years, Ethel "Toby"; as a devoted father to Terryl (Shelley) Johnson and Diana (Bob) Gornik; proud grandfather of Laura (Pete) Sidor, Terryl II (Deniseson, Sean (Flora) Johnson, Jason (Emily) Wild, and Jamie (Michelle Wild; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Interment will follow at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 14, from 5:00-9:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Lung Association.
