Glen Lenzi 65, of Gurnee, Il., passed away February 19, 2015 while in hospice care at Rolling Hills Manor, in Zion, Il.
Glen was born in Waukegan, Il. on May 29, 1949 to Enzo and Beverly Lenzi. Glen was a graduate of Waukegan High School in 1967, was a member of the first CLC graduating class in 1971, and the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. On June 7, 1969 Glen married his high school sweetheart Donna May (nee Redmer). Glen worked a 30+ year career for Johnson Outboards/OMC in Waukegan and other locations throughout the world. At OMC/Johnson, Glen served in all different areas starting as a millwright, working into maintenance where he eventually became the Maintenance Supervisor, followed by time in the Environmental Division. When he retired he was a project management engineer in charge of opening new plants throughout the world. After Glen’s retirement from OMC, he also worked briefly for the Lake Villa School district as the Business Director, and he went to work for Bombardier Recreational Products to assist in plant startup after they bought the bankrupt OMC before his final retirement. Glen was also well known throughout the Gurnee community as he served for almost 20 years on the Gurnee Grade school District 56 school board including 4 years as President. In 1999 Glen was nominated as the Gurnee Days honoree for his years of dedicated community service. While he spent long hours for years at his work and community service career, Glen always found time for his biggest joy, attending every possible event for all his kids and grandkids!
Glen is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Donna May nee Redmer, his children: Jason (Lauri) Lenzi of Gurnee, Steven (Laura) Lenzi of Beach Park, Il. and Jana (fiancée Dan DiCaro) of Lockport, Il. Glen is also survived by his prides and joy—his loving grand children: Kaia, Dakota, Kyra and Yasmin. Glen is also survived by his sister Beverly (Ron) Glovetski, sister Joyce (Chet) Brewer, brother Gene (Dee Dee) Lenzi, and sister Cathy Lenzi.
He was preceded in death by his parents Enzo and Beverly.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Monday, February 23, 2015 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL.
