Gloria Eugenia Taylor was born on September 11, 1931, in Big Bridge, Jamaica, West Indies to the union of Edwin James and Adina Delores McLeod.
In April of 1972, she united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, of Zion, Illinois, under the leadership of the present Pastor, Rev. Dr. B.J. Gaston. She was a faithful tither and faithful member of the church. Mother Taylor was united in holy matrimony to David Taylor on June 25, 1956. They had one daughter, Eva.
Mother Taylor peacefully transitioned into life eternal on September 2, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin James and Adina Delores McCleod; two brothers, Noel and Vincent McCleod; and one step-daughter, Beverly Taylor-Sinclair.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Eva Taylor of Gurnee, IL; sister, Irma McCleod of Jamaica; seven grandchildren, Brittinie, Letesha, Leonard, Amanda, Jermy, David, and Howard; three great-grandchildren, three God-daughters, Ann Marie Scott. Jennifer Hamilton, and Rashurle Freeman; her church family and her friends.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2500 30th St., Zion. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
