Gwendolyn Imogene Tschakert

Gwendolyn Imogene Tschakert (nee Roberts), 90, of Winthrop Harbor, IL went home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 15, 2016 at home. She was born April 2, 1925 in Itawamba County, MS. She came to Zion in the late 1940's, and she married Frank Tschakert of Zion on November 30, 1964. Gwendolyn was a member of North Point Church of Winthrop Harbor, IL. She had been employed at Warwick Electronics in Zion and Fansteel in North Chicago. Survivors include her husband of 51 years Frank; children Cynthia (Gene) Syarto of Vero Beach, FL, Rick (Maria) Johnson of Winthrop Harbor, IL, and Angela (Dennis) Pearson of Winthrop Harbor, IL; grandchildren Renee, Jacqueline, Michael, Kristin, Eric, Dacia Cora, and Caleb; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one brother Bill (Sue) Roberts of Fulton, MS. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Ethel Cora (nee Messer) and Josiah Roberts; brothers Oral (Dorothy) Frost, Carmen (Cleta Mae) Frost, and Johnnie (Ann) Frost; and one sister Sybil (Curtis) Frost-Williamson. Visitation will be Saturday, February 27, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home with Doug Rendall of North Point Church officiating. Private interment will be held later at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations to North Point Food Pantry have been suggested.
