Hannah Bills

1909 — November 15, 2007

Hannah Bills, 98, of Zion, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2007. She was born in Waukegan on November 4, 1909 to Charles and Hilda Gustafson. Until her health started failing her 7 years ago, she was very active at her beloved Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion, as well as volunteered for decades at the Zion American Legion, VA Hospital, PADS and Meals on Wheels. Hannah was an avid sports fan, never missing a game of her Cubs, Bears and Bulls. She attended many games at Wrigley Field and never failed to purchase a score card and keep perfect score herself. Hannah was married to John R. Bills who was an Assistant States Attorney, City of Zion Judge and in the private law practice of Mason & Bills. Hannah was truly the Grand Matriarch of the family and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her son Alfred E. She was preceded in death by her husband John; daughter Caroline Sue Edwards; parents Charles and Hilda Gustafson; brothers Harry, Harold and John; and sister Helen; the family wishes to thank the many that made Hannah's last few years, and in particular the past few months, more comfortable: the Rock family, Diana, Santos, Nancy and the staff of STAR Hospice, Catholic Charities, Provena and many others. You will never be forgotten. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion.
