Harold D. "Hack" McLin, 89, of Spring Grove, IL, formerly of Gurnee and Zion, died on Sunday, June 29, 2008, at home in Spring Grove.
He was born October 23, 1918, in Naylor, MO, and married Flora Allen on October 5, 1941. Harold served with the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was formerly employed for Johns-Manville in Waukegan for 22 years and was a retired pipefitter with Union Local #118. He was a member of Waukegan Masonic Lodge #78, the Gurnee American Legion, the Winthrop Harbor VFW, the Zion Moose, and the Zion Senior Citizens Club. Harold was also a member of the Christ Community Church in Zion.
Survivors include four children, Harold Leon (Mary) McLin of Zion, Garry McLin of Baker City, OR, George D. (Sara) McLin of Zion, and Bernard "Barney" (Debby) McLin of Spring Grove, IL; eight grandchildren, David, Melanie, Marilyn, George Jr., Crystal, Geoffrey, Skyler, and Megan; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; niece, Mary Lou Stanton of Chicago, IL; and nephew, Jerry Gibbs of Rocky Comfort, MO.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora in 2002; his father and mother, David and Margaret McLin; and sister, Alice Gibbs.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 2, 2008, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a Masonic Rite at 7:00 pm. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 3 , at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Millburn Cemetery, Millburn, IL.
