Harvey R. Jackson

Harvey R. “Sonny” Jackson, 88, of Zion, IL passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Sonny, as he is well known to his family and friends, was born April 29, 1933 in Marion County, AL. He worked for Chrysler/AMC for 34 years retiring in 1985. Harvey enjoyed spending his time fishing, gardening and traveling with his wife, Bonnie. Sonny proudly served his country in the United States Army. He entered the Army after the war and was stationed in Germany during the occupation. Sonny is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; sons, Jeffrey and Gregory Jackson; and siblings, Emma Heavner of Baldwin, MS, Nell Humphres of Zion, IL, Peggy Hacker of Kenosha, WI, Bill Jackson of Loveland, CO, Lloyd (Phoelicia) Jackson of Red Bay, AL and Jimmy (Judy) Jackson of Mantachie, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Ellis and Rena Jackson; brothers, Lee “Junior” Jackson and Bob Jackson; and sisters, Arvis Hammock and Lorene Stewart, brother in laws Junior Humphres and Homer Hammock and sister in law Joyce (Bob) Jackson. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan, Rd., Zion, IL 60099 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private for the family.
