Helen Frutiger (nee Henry), 89, of Barton Senior Residences in Zion, IL died on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
She was born January 21, 1923 in Terre Haute, IN. She had been a 14 year resident of Assisi Homes of Gurnee, IL and a 70 year resident of Waukegan, IL. She married the late Raymond Frutiger on July 3, 1941 in Waukegan. In the late 1940's she worked at Pfanstiel in Waukegan for 10 years. Helen was a generous person with a loving heart and a deep appreciation for everyone in her life. Her welcoming, friendly personality allowed Helen to make friends easily. She was always a cheerful woman who was happiest when spending time with her family. Helen was an avid gardener who enjoyed growing everything from vegetables and flowers to fruit trees. She loved cooking and crafting in her later years. Her affection for animals was abundant (especially cats) and she was always glad to spend time with her family's pets. She may have been best known for the enjoyment she received collecting antique dolls and all types of angels.
Survivors include her sister Gwen Gall of Waukegan, IL; her nieces Jan Scheske of Delaware, OH, Jean Tippet of Waukegan, IL, Patty (Pat) Garrett of Beach Park, IL, and Kathy (Tom) Blucker of Lake Villa, IL; and grandnieces and grandnephews Jessica and Tim Garrett, Joe Tippet, and Matt Pettry.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Frutiger on July 27, 1989; and her father Earl Henry in 1944 and her mother Pearl Henry in 1983.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 28, 2012, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago.
