Helen T. Lepisto (nee Paavilainen), 80, of Waukegan, Illinois, died on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
Helen was born October 9, 1930 in Waukegan. She was a lifelong active member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waukegan where she played organ for the Finnish service, sang in the choir and served on Alter Guild. She was also a member of Women of the Moose, Waukegan Lodge. Helen enjoyed camping and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Dianne (William) Vega of Tonica, Illinois, Bonnie Lepisto of Waukegan, Illinois, and Brenda (Gary) Eberhardt of Antioch, Illinois; four grandchildren, Regina (Juan) Diaz, James (Calandra) Russo, Erick (Jamie) Eberhardt, and Davin Eberhardt; and five great-grandchildren, Erin, John, Abby, Lily, and Rylan.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ronald, in 2007; her twin brother, Carl Paavilainen; her older brother, Viljo Paavilainen; and her parents, Kalle and Olga Paavilainen.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3350 North Delany Road, Waukegan, Illinois, Pastor Jeffrey Koth officiating. Visitations will be held on Monday, January 3rd, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, and again on Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the Church.
