Helen A. Nelson, 98, of Zion, Illinois and formerly of Kenosha, Wisconsin, was called home by God on Friday, October 22, 2010 at Rolling Hills Manor Nursing Home in Zion.
She was born February 6, 1912 in Tomah, Wisconsin and had lived in this area since the early 1940's. Helen taught Sunday School for many years at Church of God in Kenosha. She loved gardening, knitting, crocheting, reading, and her family. Her strong Christian faith was an example to everyone she knew.
Survivors include her two children, Shirley (Jimmie) Booth and Gloria (Duane) Stimes both of Zion; ten grandchildren, Karen Ginn, Larry Booth, Kent Stimes, Bobby Stimes, Phyllis Brick, Pam Nelson, Patrick Nelson, Brian Nelson, Alan Nelson, and Glen Nelson; fifteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Barbara Nelson of Racine, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin in 1981; two sons, Spencer Nelson and William Dean Nelson; one granddaughter, Debbie Stimes; one great-great-granddaughter, Harley Stimes; three sisters; three brothers; her daughter-in-law, Mary Nelson; and her parents, William and Hermann Erb.

Visitation will be Monday, October 25, 2010, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 26th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Carlson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
