Hinds Williams, 68, of Racine, WI, died on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare All Saints in Racine, WI.
Hinds was born February 10, 1945 in Brooksville, Mississippi born to the union of the late Wiley & Janie (Samuels) Williams. He graduated from Mildred Jackson High School in Hughes, Arkansas in 1963. After graduation, he was drafted into the US Army and was stationed in Vietnam, Korea, and Germany before being discharged in 1969.
Hinds married his high school sweetheart, Mae Helen and to that union Tony Hinds was born. He relocated to Racine, Wisconsin and met and married Judy Oliver in 1972. To that union three daughters were born: Gina, Janie and Brianne.
Hinds was an advocate for education. He attended the College of Lake County and Carthage College earning multiple degrees in Computer Science and Psychology. He worked for Hines VA Hospital for many years as well as Waukegan High School.
Hinds was the Jack of All Trades. Between teaching, construction, sales, computer programming and being the family wrench he filled his life with experience. Hinds loved spending time with his family. Attending, watching and coaching sporting events was his favorite past time.
Hinds leaves to cherish his memory: One son: Tony Hinds Williams-Memphis, TN; Three Daughters: Gina Miller(Tom Krause)-Zion, IL; Janie Williams (Carl Thiel)-Salem, WI; and Brianne Williams-Chicago, IL. Eight grandchildren: Toni, Tonya, Wryan, Kyle, DaMoreon, Kirsten, Angelique, and Showgirl. Three great-grandchildren: Natalie, Amaya, and Sameera. Four sisters: Julie (Herman) Smith and Addie Dean - Grand Rapids, MI; Ethel Mae Williams-Benton Harbor, MI; Maddie Lou Williams-Racine, WI. Brother-in-Laws: Charlie (aka Bonk) Smith-Benton Harbor, MI, John Hill-Kenosha, WI. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Hinds was preceded in death by his parents Wiley and Janie (Samuels) Williams; Brothers: Jeffrey Albert and Roosevelt; Sisters: Elizabeth, Mattie Jane, Georgia D., Amelia and Sally.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 4:00 p.m., at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, with Minister Gregory Slater (great-nephew), officiating. Friends may greet the family on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
