Hope Evangeline Marsh, 89, of Beach Park, IL went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at her home at Rolling Hills Place.
She was born April 7, 1923 in Waukegan, IL. She married the late Edwin Marsh in Aitkin, MN. Hope and Edwin were Dairy Farmers in Minnesota for several years and together they moved to Northern Illinois in 1955. She was a current member of Trinity Christian Center in Zion. Hope loved reading God's word and was a consistent women of prayer for her family and her church. She also enjoyed ministering to others through piano, guitar, and singing at various nursing homes and churches in the area throughout the years. Hope also enjoyed cooking and baking and enjoyed traveling, gardening, and reading.
Survivors include six daughters Sharon (Dennis) Goeske of Gurnee, IL, Paulette (Howard) Hinnenkamp of Princeton, MN, Jeanne (Greg) Scholl of Palmetto, FL, Joanne (Jerry) Peterson of Sedalia, CO, Susan (Hollis) Henley of Grand Ledge, MI, and Joy Whinery of Princeton, MN; seventeen grandchildren David Goeske, Beth King, Adam Hinnenkamp, Samuel Hinnenkamp, Lisa Dananay, Heather Surridge, Jaimie Couburn, April Krzus, Angela Caro, Rebecca Saunoris, Melissa Flanigan, Brian Henley, Michael Henley, Tim Henley, Kristine VanDerLinden, Christopher Whinery, and Allison Whinery; and siblings Rueben Swanson of Bloomington, MN and Mary Beth Swanson of McGregor, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin, August of 2011; one granddaughter Kim Kopp; one sister Ruby Reine; one brother Don Swanson; and her parents Alfred and Mabel Swanson.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Christian Center, 2600 Lewis Avenue, Zion, IL. Visitations will be Wednesday, December 26th, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, and again on Thursday, December 27th, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorials to Trinity Christian Center have been suggested.
