Hugh Hart

1924 — September 30, 2014

Hugh James Hart, of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, passed away late in September, 2014 at his home as a result of an accident. Hugh was born and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota, one of 4 children of Frederick and Rosalie (Varsnick) Hart. He married Annette (Sue) Kahle in 1945 and moved to Lake County in 1950. Preceding him in death are Annette, both his parents, brothers Patrick Raymond Hart and John (Jay) Charles Hart, and his sister Mary Huberdeen Capes. Hugh served in the South Pacific with the United States Navy during World War II. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1950 and an MBA from Roosevelt University in 1975. He had a full career with United States Steel in Waukegan, Illinois, followed by serving as a Professor of Business Administration and Dean of Students at Carthage College, Kenosha, Wisconsin. He also served on Abbot Laboratory's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee for many years, up until a few months ago. He is survived by his son, Dr. Timothy Hart and his daughter-in-law Cathy Hart of Glendale, Wisconsin, their two children, Kyla and Spencer, by Timothy's daughter, Adrienne Hart; and by his sister-in-law Phyllis Hart of Eden Prairie, MN as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He is also survived by many dear friends and colleagues. A memorial service celebrating Hugh's life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 824 N. Lewis Ave., Waukegan, IL.
