Ione Cora (Koppen) Mainord, 86, of Zion, IL, died October 14, 2015 at home with her family by her side.
Ione was born December 21, 1928, in Zion and resided there all of her life. She graduated from Zion Benton Township High School in 1947. Ione married Rev. Hugh I. Mainord in 1985. She worked for the Zion Dairy, Zion State Bank, and Christ Community Church. Ione and her husband were devoted and active members of Christ Community Church where she was an active member of the Zion Gaurdettes, Zion Passion Play, and Camp Zion staff, she was also a Sunday School Teacher, youth leader, choir member, and a deaconess at the church. Ione was also a past treasurer of the Zion Garden Club, and was active in the Zion Park District Senior program.
Ione is survived by her step-children Timothy (Sue) Mainord, Debbie (Gary) Gray, and Carey (Shannon) Mainord, all of Texas; six step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; brother Paul (Teresa) Koppen; sisters Nora Schulze, and Frances Patenaude; nieces and nephews Anita Infante, Robert McKinley, Rock Schulze, Lora Brown, Paul Patenaude Jr., Michael Patenaude, Susan Romig, Dr. John Patenaude; 20 great-nieces and nephews; and many other family members and close friends.
Ione was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Hugh I. Mainord, parents Frank and Cora Koppen, sister Gladys McKinley; brothers-in-law Bob McKinley, Ed Schulze and Paul Patenaude Sr.; nephews Ron McKinley and Edmond McKinley
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 12:00 noon at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, with Pastor Mike McDowell officiating. Interment will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Zion or the CCC Missions Fund.
