Jack Lawler, 80, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, and formally of Russellville, AL, and Decatur, AL, died on Monday, January 2, 2012, at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan.
Jack was born April 25, 1931, in Russellville, AL, to William and Mattie Lawler. He married Ruby Henson on February 28, 1961, in Lake County, IL. He worked for E. A. Meyer Construction, Lake Bluff, IL, and then eventually retired from J.R. Myers Construction, Zion, IL. He dearly loved his family (especially his grandchildren), and enjoyed going to horse races. Other enjoyments were rooting for the Auburn football team and fishing.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 51 years, Ruby; children, Phillip (Amanda) Lawler and Douglas Lawler, both of Winthrop Harbor, IL; grand children, Whitney and Brandon Lawler; sisters, Carolyn (G.W.) Hillis of Florence, AL, Betty Mitchell of Leighton, AL, and Elaine (Donald) Gandy of Russellville, AL; brother, Jimmy (Keoko) Lawler of Fayateville, N.C.; mother-in-law, Beulah Henson of Decatur, AL; sisters-in-law, Willowdean (Jackie) Jones of Decatur, AL and Paulette (Leldon) Lake of Decatur, AL; brother-in-law, James Henson of Decatur, AL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Bobbie Bolton; father-in-law, Rubin Henson; and brother-in-law, William Mitchell.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, 2012, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Chaplain John Davis, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
