Jack Wesley 94, of Zion, IL, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Aurora Medical Center, Kenosha, WI.
Born August 1, 1918, Jack was the son of Maude and Duncan McElmurry. He married his wife of 71 years, Frances G. Smith, on February 12, 1937. Jack was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion, the Zion American Legion Post #865, and was Past Master of the Millburn Masonic Lodge #127. He served with the United States Army during World War II in central Europe as a tank driver. Jack owned and operated Lake Crest Furniture in Pleasant Prairie, WI. Jack was a friend to all and known for his generosity of time and spirit. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and wealth of stories.
Survivors include his daughters, Kathleen (Eddie Waddle) McElmurry of Zion and Karilyn (Daniel) Rushforth of Winthrop Harbor; daughter-in-law, Eva McElmurry of Zion; son-in-law, William Hosken of Libertyville; 13 grandchildren, Terence (Margaret) Hosken, Chip (Gabrielle Devlin) Hosken, Jodi (Albert) Petree, Jacquelyn Mallek, Leslie Hagen, Lori (Rob) Marabella, Justin (Amanda) Evans, Amanda (Kim Wilson) Evans, Kara (Craig) Thompson, Courtney Rushforth, Neal (Audra) Rushforth, Scott (fiancée Kaitlin Fahey) Waddle, John (Michelle) Waddle; 18 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Dylan, Luke, Aaron, Declan, Cory, Jessy, Jacob, Lindsey, Ryan, Karleigh, Kelsi, Jeremy, Kayla, Jaxson, Zachary, Jack Wesley, and one expected in September. Jack is also survived by his dear friend, Marceil Stried.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; infant daughter, Nancy McElmurry; son, Jack McElmurry; and daughter, Beverly McElmurry.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church, 2935 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with Rev. Kwadwo Ntim, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. Memorial donations are suggested to Memorial United Methodist Church.
