James F. Bowen, 72, of Zion, Illinois passed away July 27, 2023 in Green Bay, Wisconsin surrounded by his loving family. James was born July 29. 1950 in Lowell, Massachusetts to George and Rita Bowen.

James, also known as Jim, married Linda Hawkins November 26, 1974 in Lakehurst, New Jersey. Jim was a member of St. Dismas Catholic Church for many years. Jim was a retired navy chief and also retired from Civil service.

Jim was a very kind and generous man who would do anything for his family. He retired from the military after 23 years of service. Jim was a very proud Navy Chief, devout catholic who had a passion for airplanes and music.

Jim is survived by his wife, Linda Bowen; daughters, Melissa (Brad) Bowen-Rouse and Marie Bowen; grandchildren, Landon and Surina Rouse; siblings, Robin Long, George Bowen, Pamela Sheridan, Nancy Notto, Julie DeMatteis and Victoria Bowen; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George H. Bowen and Rita F. (nee Fleming) Bowen; grandparents, George H. and Mary (nee Donegan) Bowen and James F. and Mary Ann (nee MacQuarrie) Fleming.

Visitation will take place Friday, August 11, 2023 at the Congdon Funeral Home, Zion, IL from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 at St. Dismas Catholic Church, Waukegan, IL at 10:00 a.m. Interment will military honors to follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL.
