James Edward Dalton, 72, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, formerly of Zion, IL, died on Friday, August 13, 2010, at Loyola Medical Center, Maywood, IL.
James was born October 15, 1937, in Crenshaw, MS, to Brother and Marie Dalton. He married Helen Hefner on June 13, 1959, in Bangor, MI. James retired from Commonwealth Edison in 1992, and previous to that had worked for Abbott Laboratories. He was a member of a local IBEW and a former member of the Zion Moose. James was a loving husband and family man. He had a fond love of automobiles.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Helen; daughters, Tina Barnett and Laura Renee Davis; six grandchildren, Tony, Angie, David, Leslie, Sheena, and Josh; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Dalton, sisters, Rose (Shed) Clemons, Jean (Pete) Cooper, Linda (Lee) Clemons; brothers, Tommy (Sherry) Dalton and Robert (Rachel) Dalton; numerous nieces and nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tony Dalton in 1992; brother, George Dalton; sisters, Elizabeth Walls and Elsie McDavid; brother, Richard Dalton; sister, Ivy Clemons; and brother, Billy Dalton.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 16, 2010, at 4:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with Pastor Dennis Corley of North Point Christian Church of Winthrop Harbor, officiating. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment is private.
