James H. “Jim” Dixon, 69, of Gurnee, IL passed away at Lake Forest Hospital on April 28, 2017, due to complications from cancer.
He was born May 31, 1947 in Union Grove, WI. He attended Union Grove High School where he graduated in 1965. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country aboard the USS Harold J. Ellison DD-864 from 1966-1970. Jim worked as a grounds keeper and salesman for Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, IL for over 30 years. He and his wife were members of the Warren High School Band Boosters for 8 years. Jim enjoyed fishing, gardening, eating good food and annual trips to the casino.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Lois Dixon, by his children Jamie (Ryan) Dormody of Grayslake, IL and Jennie (Tony) Davis of Antioch, IL; grandson, Jack Davis; siblings, Dawn (John) Hoffman, Jean (Gary) Sprindis and Judy (Bob) Wolf.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rufus and Helen Dixon.
A brief memorial service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 3PM at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
