James Fredrick Erickson Jr. of Waukegan, Illinois passed away on January 2nd, 2022 in Waukegan. Jim was born on November 14th, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Elitda Cabana and James Erickson Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Waukegan. Jim married the love of his life, Janice Erickson (Kalk) in April of 1985. Jim was a proud Union plumber by trade and also a machinist. Jim’s favorite thing was comic books, especially Batman. Batman was his superhero. He was also a passionate Chicago sports fan. He played and managed softball teams and more recently developed a love of golf. His love of music was very unique. His most treasured pastime was spending time with his family and friends. He was the life of the party and often told jokes, some of them that were not always funny but we laughed anyway. He enjoyed making people laugh. There are not enough words to describe what a wonderful man he was. James is survived by his wife and soulmate of 43 years, Janice Erickson; his loving daughter, Stacey Erickson of Kenosha, Wisconsin; best friend and son, James F. Erickson III (Beatrice) of Kenosha, grandchildren Aniah, Brianna, and Daisy; mother-in-law Dulcie Kalk of Foxlake, Illinois; brothers Charles Erickson (Cathy) and Kenneth Erickson (Christine), Danny Kalk, David Kalk, and Phillip Kalk; sister Tammy O’Donnell, sisters-in-law Leah, Robin, and Tina Erickson of Cleveland, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He is proceeded in death by his father, James Erickson, Sr; mother, Elitda Cabana (nee Huft), sister, Margaret Techmanski; brothers Michael and Harold; brother-in-law, Kelly O’Donnell; sister in law Sharon and Mary Kalk. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 8th, 2022 from 4PM-6PM visitation 6PM - 7PM service at Congdon Funeral Home 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, Illinois 60099. Please dress in whatever you would like to wear that reminds you of Jim.
