James H. Johnson

James H. “Jack” Johnson, 90, of Beach Park, IL died on Friday, July 14, 2017 peacefully at home.

He was born July 19, 1926 in McLeansboro, IL.  Jack was a member of MeadowRidge Church of Zion, IL.   Following his retirement from Abbott Labs after 42 years, both he and his wife Charlotte traveled extensively worldwide with Chuck Paxton’s Senior Park District Travel Club.  He also enjoyed traveling this country following his grandchildrens’ sporting events.

Survivors include his wife of 70 ½ years Charlotte Mae Johnson; children Dennis (Ann) Johnson of McLeansboro, IL, Charles T. (Emily) Johnson of Lake Forest, IL, and Dianne (Eddie) Moore of Beach Park, IL; eight grandchildren Andrew (Sherra) Johnson, Benjamin (Dawnelda) Johnson, Christin (Rob) Nichols, Dawn (Brent) McKown, Tiffany (Guy) Meikel, Adam (Deborah) Johnson, Nichole (Jim) McAskin, and Rebecca Moore; twenty great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandson Brent Charles Johnson; three sisters Hallie, Ruby, and Chloe; and his father and mother Thomas and Stella (nee Russell) Johnson.

Visitation will be Monday, July 17, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon, Pastor Bruce Allen officiating.   Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL.  Memorials to MeadowRidge Church have been suggested.
