James Swalley

James P. Swalley, 63, of Beach Park, died on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois. James was born February 21, 1943 in Waukegan. For the past 9 years he has served as Community Service Officer for the Zion Police Department, retiring September 2006. Prior to that, he worked for 20 years at International Harvester, the Waukegan Police Department and for 13 years with Commonwealth Edison. He was an avid fisherman and he loved old cars and camping. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Shirley; children Tami (George) Efsen of Winthrop Harbor, Jeff (Shelly) Swalley of Ardmore, Pennsylvania, Steve Swalley of Lake Villa, Illinois, Stacy (Ken) Creamer of Zion and Shanna Christensen of Beach Park; three grandchildren Jon Efsen, Ben Efsen and Jack Swalley; his father and mother, George & Stephanie Swalley of Sturgis, Michigan; and two sisters Marilyn (Gary) Cookson of White Pigeon, Michigan and Jeannette (Troy) Haines of Zion. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 21, 2007, from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 22nd, at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Michael Brown, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Winthrop Harbor, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Multiple Myeloma Research Fund, or, First Baptist Church Building Fund have been suggested.
