Jean F. Losey, of Beach Park, IL, went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2016.
Jean was born February 5, 1927, in Ladd, IL, and came to the Waukegan area in 1956. He married the late, Joyce E. Losey, (nee, Schwingle), on August 13, 1949, at Perkins Grove Church in LaMoille, IL. He and his late wife, Joyce, had an integral part in starting and developing the ministry of Kids’ Klubs, Inc. in the Illinois River Valley which began in 1953. Jean was a long time member of Bonnie Brook Baptist Church and a current member of Lake County Baptist Church. He was an active volunteer at the Lake County Baptist Church and School for many years. He retired from Johnson Motors in 1992 after 28 years of employment. Jean also was a janitor at Bonnie Brook Baptist Church for many years, worked on the Goetz Farm (on Rte. 173) for many years, and loved gardening, woodworking, and helping others. The Lord blessed him with hard working hands and passed that on to his children. Jean helped countless people, churches, and other organizations with building projects, including building his own home.
Survivors include his children: Gary (Barb) Losey of Bartonville, IL, Don (Debbie) Losey of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Jan (Bruce) Thompson of Beach Park, IL, Cheryl (Bob) Harris of Zion, IL, Mike (Christine) Losey of Newnan, GA, and Mark (Jeannie) Losey of Cary, N.C.; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, William (Betty) Losey Jr. of Princeton, IL; and sister, Mary Allicks of Ohio, IL.
Jean was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; infant son, Timothy Losey; parents, William and Mary Louise Losey Sr.; brothers, Charles, David, & Lee Losey; and sister, Rose Robbins.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 31 at 5:00 p.m. at Lake County Baptist Church, 1550 W. Yorkhouse Road, Waukegan, IL with Pastor Ralph Warren officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00pm until time of service at Lake County Baptist Church. An interment service will be Monday, February 1 at 10:00am at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion. Memorial donations are suggested to Lake County Baptist Church/School.
