Jean Elizabeth Storey Jean Elizabeth Storey, 82, faithful daughter, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 10, 2009. Jean was born at home in Zion, IL, to Ralph and Ruth Petreman Storey on January 6, 1927. She attended Zion Parochial Schools and graduated from Zion- Benton Township High School. Jean worked for Webber Cartage before joining the staff at Christian Catholic Church (now, Christ Community Church) in Zion. Jean is best known for her many years of service at Camp Zion in Ellison Bay, WI, where she worked as a staff member from the camp's inception in 1947, going on to act as Camp Director for almost 30 years. Many a parent rested easy when their children were at Camp, knowing that Jean was in charge, and God blessed the Camp with safety and many changed lives during Jean's tenure. At CCC, Jean also served as a Guardette Captain, Sunday School Teacher, Passion Play cast member, and Archive volunteer. She enjoyed athletics, travel, (with Zion Park District), and Precepts Bible Studies. Jean was a member of the Illinois Dunesland Garden Club and Zion Woman's Club. She loved all people; especially children. Jean was one of a kind , an original. She presented her unmarried state as an offering to the Lord. Well done, good and faithful servant. Jean is survived by brothers, Richard (Byrdine) Storey and Burt (Carol) Storey; sister, Maxine (Ira) Krause; sisters-in-law, Polly Storey Banks, Eleanor Storey and Jan Storey; 15 nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-Christ, lone Koppen Mainord. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Victor (Edna), Don, Jim, Roger and Loren Storey; sisters, Virginia Wirth, Jessie (Ross) Burgess, Adelle (Ed) Groome; and sister-in-law, Kay Storey. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, with Pastor Ken Langley, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m until the time of services at the church. Memorial donations are suggested to the scholarship fund for Camp Zion, in care of Christ Community Church.
