Jeanette M. Postolka, Winthrop Harbor, passed away on October 6th 2021 surrounded by her loving husband Steve and all her children and grandchildren.
She was born 17 July 1943 in Marshalltown, Iowa to the late Chester and Ethel Replogle. She worked at Naval Station Great Lakes for many years and retired in 2006.
At times she was called "The Cookie Lady" as she truly loved cooking and baking and every business she visited was awarded a bag of homemade cookies.
Jeanette survived several bouts with cancer and never complained about what life threw at her. She was truly a positive person.
Jeanette was the mother of two daughters. Robin Bergstrom (Rich) and Julie Stackhouse. Grandmother of Derek, Erin (Zach), Cory, Sean (Joann), Kelsey and Courtnee and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, sisters Joyce and Betty and brother Joseph. Survived by brother John Replogle of Iowa.
Jeanette married her husband Steve in Waterloo, Iowa in 1965 when he was serving as a Naval Recruiter. She lived in many places while he completed his 20 years in the Navy and Jeanette made friends throughout the country.
Jeanette's love of family was second to none and enjoyed all visits with them. No one ever left her house hungry. Her husband always complimented her by saying she was the best cook in Lake County.
Memorial Visitation will be held Friday, October 15, 2021 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL 60099 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Memorial Service will begin at 6:30 p.m.
