Jeanette Eleanor (Fagan) Stried of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, was called to Heaven to join her husband Howard A. Stried, on March 25, 2007. She was the daughter of Delia (and James R. Fagan) and William Shebesta. Jeanette was born July 1, 1920 and lived nearly her entire life in North Chicago, Illinois. She married Howard on February 14, 1941, in Debuque, Iowa. They shared 63 years together on earth. Jeanette attended Holy Family Catholic Grade School in North Chicago, and Waukegan Township High School. She was a life long member of Royal Neighbors, Chairman of the Leo Kukla Mayoral Campaign (North Chicago), and Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the city of North Chicago for many years. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Howard A. Stried; and sisters, Helen Fagan, Delia (Christian) Elfert, Ruth (Joseph) Greenfield, Florence (Fredrick) Krause, Eleanor (Edward) Dolinar, Billy Jean (Samuel) Lynch; and brothers, Charles E. (Maxine) Fagan, James R. (Pauline) Fagan; and great-grandson, Matthew Elliott. She left behind many who will miss her terribly, including daughter, Judy (John) Van Dien: granddaughter, Johnette Van Dien; and great-granddaughter, Johnna-Marie Stried Van Dien all of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; grandson, John (Kathleen) Van Dien; great-granddaughter, Madisyn Jeanette Van Dien; and great-grandsons, Andrew and Ryan Elliott of Lindenhurst, Illinois; also great-granddaughter, Patricia Elliott of Sahuarita, Arizona; as well as sister, Betty Jean (Curtis) Carmen of Waukegan. Also grieving her loss are God-child, Laura Lee (Joseph) Herrington; and God-grandson, Mark Herrington all of Anniston, Alabama; God-granddaughter, Rev. Jody Lee Herrington of Slidell, Louisiana; and God-grandson, Christopher Herrington of Baxley, Georgia. Jeanette's long time best friend, Jean (Leo) Kukla of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, shares the loss of the family, which includes countless nieces and nephews including those who shared her final week with her, nieces Judy (Fagan) Fojtik of Ingleside, Illinois, and Ruth (Elfert) Prais of Lake Bluff, Illinois, and nephews Professor Steven "Randy" (Carol) Lynch of Lexington, Kentucky, and Lake County Under-Sheriff Charles Fagan. Visitation for Jeanette will be held on Friday, March 30, 2007, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home with Fr. Paul Cull officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
