Jerry D. Hickman, 79, of Winthrop Harbor, died September 8, 2015 at home.
Jerry was born July 28, 1936 in Snyder, Oklahoma. He married Alma Proctor on May 6, 1972, in Winthrop Harbor. Jerry was active with the First Baptist Church in Winthrop Harbor, he was a hardworking, self-employed drywall subcontractor, he was a member of the Carpenters Union. Jerry was a family oriented, honest man.
Jerry is survived by his step-son Robert Proctor of Winthrop Harbor; step-daughter Brenda Prater of Zion; step-son-in-law John Hyndman of Butte, MT; grandchildren Nathan (Amy) Hyndman of Lindenhurst, Amanda (Jason) Brown of Chubbuck, ID, Dana Proctor of Winthrop Harbor, Danielle (Steven) Guillen of Antioch, Laura Prater of Zion, and Tammy (Rob) Witherspoon of Kenosha; 6 great-grandchildren; and many other close loved friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alma; biological parents Bertha and Arthur Hickman; mother and father, Straussa Davis and George Hickman; step-son Jack Proctor; step-daughter Carrie Hyndman; and step-son-in-law Tom Prater.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 3001 9th Street, Winthrop Harbor, IL. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
