Jettie Rose Edwards

March 14, 1926 — October 30, 2024

Jettie Rose Edwards Peterson of Zion, Illinois passed away October 30, 2024, at 98 years of age.

Jettie Rose was born in her parents home, a farm outside of Mt. Hope, Wisconsin on March 14, 1926. Her parents were James Fay Edge and Bertha Elenora Edge. She was raised until the age of 12, in Southwest Wisconsin where she had many fond memories which usually included her brother Bobby. They moved to Zion in 1938, joining other family members living in the area. She graduated from Zion Benton High School in 1944, and found a job at Abbott Lab taking the North Shore train each way. She met her first husband, Robert John Glenn at a USO social event, as he was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base. They married in 1947 and had four children: Victoria Rose Wilson (Don); Pamela Faye Brown (Jack); Andrea Marie Whitmore (Randy); and Robert John Glenn (Jean).

Bob tragically died as a result of an automobile accident in Eastern Kentucky in 1961. Jettie Rose successfully raised her four children on her own for ten years, moving from Paintsville, Ky. to Madison, Wi, and finally back to Zion Il. in 1965. Five years later, she married Donald L. Edwards of Zion, welcoming his three sons, Jack (Mary); Roger (Jean); Don (Dottie), and their families. They resided in Zion for 34 years until Don's death. In the summer of 2006, Jettie Rose became reacquainted with a former ZBTHS classmate and long-time friend, Robert Peterson. They married in 2008. Bob has twin sons, Delwin(Nancy) and Darwin(Nancy); also daughter Jo Huber(John).

Jettie Rose loved to sew, making many of her childrens' clothing when they were young. Eventually, she taught them to sew also. Later in life, she began making quilts for herself, her married children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and hostess, regularly receiving many family members and friends into her home. She also participated in several home bible studies. She was a member of Grace Missionary Church, and later, Christ Community Church. Jettie Rose loved to travel, visiting most of the United States over the years, as well as Canada, Mexico and much of Europe while living in France. She also enjoyed cruises to various destinations. Jettie Rose wrote her life story, finishing it in 2006. She ended her written story by stating that she thanked the Lord for all He has done in her life. She raised her children to grow to love the Lord, and her faith legacy carries on to her children and grandchildren.

Jettie Rose was preceded in death by her brother Bob Edge(Mary), and granddaughter Maison Rose Birky, as well as step-sons Jack Edwards and Don Edwards; and granddaughter Mindy Edwards .

She leaves behind her husband Bob Peterson; sisters Lynette Linden(Dave); Lynn Cox(Jim);  Mary Alice Graham(Steve); Cindy Fehrman(Timm); brother Tom Edge(Lydia); 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 12 step-grandchildren.
