Jimmy R. Dozier, 87, of Zion, IL, went to be with Our Lord at Aurora Hospital in Kenosha, WI during a hospital stay after surgery on December 8, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born October 24, 1928 to Nathan and Ila Dozier in Itawamba County, MS and moved to Zion in 1962. He retired in 1995 from the City of Zion where he was employed as a mechanic for the police department . His greatest joy in life was his family! He loved spending time outdoors and passing time with his great-grandson Trever! He was a special man that left a huge legacy in his family and will be truly missed by all his family and friends!
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred; beloved father to son Jim (Jan) Dozier of Beach Park, IL; daughter Gail (Jerry) Waddle of Winthrop Harbor; son Robert Dozier of Fulton, MS; beloved grandfather to 7 grandchildren, Tina (Robert) Sirrell, Jr of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Tabitha Waddle of Winthrop Harbor, Nicole Dozier of Winthrop Harbor, Jeremy (Stefanie) Dozier of Kenosha, Tonya Allen of Zion, Josh (Makara) Dozier of Zion, and Adrian (Lindsay) Dozier of Fulton, MS; 2 step-grandchildren Jody Basden of Fulton, MS, and Derek (Beth) Johnson of Fulton, MS; beloved great-grandfather of 21 great-grandchildren and beloved great-great-grandpa to 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 12:00 noon at Beach Community Church, 12735 W. Graves Ave., Beach Park, IL. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Youth Group of Beach Community Church, have been suggested.
