Joanne Harvey

Joanne Lucille Harvey, 66, of Grayslake, IL passed away September 16, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. 

Born December 29, 1957 to George and Lois Schultz. Joanne was 1 of 6 kids, spending her days on Druce Lake, IL where she grew up. 

Once an adult, she spent a brief year in Florida with her sister, Jeanine. After moving back to Illinois, she met and married David Harvey, bought a home, became members of Bonnie Brook Baptist Church and raised a family in Zion IL. In 1999, they moved to Jackson, TN where Joanne felt it was mandatory to have a VERY 'Blue Christmas' every year with an Elvis Christmas cd on a loop. In 2002, they moved back to Illinois buying the home in Druce Lake where she grew up. In 2006, her marriage ended and her journey on her own began in Antioch IL. She spent most of her time entertaining and going on outings with her grandkids and redefining her independence. 2013 to present, Joanne continued that journey in Grayslake, IL.

Joanne loved her family and God more than anything. Every birthday, she made a point to sing personalized songs about their age to each eagerly waiting kid and grandkid. She loved beautiful scenery- sunsets, sunrises, landscapes, waves, clouds and stars. She loved swimming, rock jumping by lake Michigan, road trips, looking for wildlife/deer, gardening and advidly reading her Bible daily.

The most commemorative part of Joanne's life was being a mom/nana. It can't be emphasized enough how special she was in their lives and how missed she will be. 

Joanne is survived by her 3 children, David B. Harvey of Kenosha, Wi, Rachel M. Harvey of Mccullom Lake, IL, and Richard G.A Harvey of Winthrop Harbor, IL. Her beloved grandchildren, Rhiannon, Rylee, Regan, Jordan, Rachel, Ryan and David; her aunt Linda Pedersen of Antioch, IL; daughter in laws, Dawnmarie Harvey of Kenosha, Wi and Ashley Harvey of Zion, IL.; brothers, George and Adam Schultz and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL 60099.
