Joanne Johnson

Joanne C. Johnson, 51, of Beach Park, died on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. She was born, October 30, 1956, in Kenosha, Wl, and resided in this area most of her life. Joanne was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Zion, participating in the Adult Choir and Chime Choir. She also volunteered at the Our Savior's School. Joanne worked as a registered nurse at the former Victory Memorial Hospital for several years. She also was the first female firefighter and paramedic for the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department. Survivors include her daughter, Jessica Johnson of Beach Park; grandson, Kyle Johnson; brothers, sisters, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Dorothy Herbek. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 19, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1800-23rd St., Zion, with Rev. Jack Kelly officiating. Friends may greet the family on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
