Joanne R. Walker, 75, of Zion, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 30, 2007, at her daughter and son-in-law's home in Zion.
Joanne was born on July 13, 1932, in Waukegan, IL, and married Jack Walker on May 23, 1953, in Waukegan. She retired from employment at the Ft. Sheridan Commissary in 1994 after 25 years of service. Joanne was a member of the Zion Moose #667, and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was devoted to her family.
Joanne is survived by children, Cindy Walker of Zion, Howard (Linda) Walker of Zion, and Sue (Tim) Powell of Zion; grandchildren, Amanda, Allyssa, Dallas Joanne, Jack, Jenna, and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Kaylie, Kayla, and Cadence; brother, Jack Barnes of Zion; sisters, Desiree Shebesta and Sally (Bernie) Baldi, both of California; numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends, Bonnie Williamson and Jovina Klemin.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Howard P. Barnes and Mildred Barnes; husband, Jack Walker in 2002, sister-in-law, Violet Barnes; and brother-in-law, Don Shebesta.
An Interment Service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park Chapel, 1436 Kenosha Rd., Zion. The family wishes to thank Star Hospice, Zion Rescue, and Dr. Kapadia and Dr. Mehta for their support during this difficult time.
