John Paul Balitchik, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI.
John was born January 9, 1935 in Schuylkill Co. Pennsylvania to George and Mary (nee Klacik) Balitchik. He retired from the US Navy with the rank of Chief Shipfitter in 1971 after serving 20 years. On June 14, 1974, he married Yolanda Ruiz, in Zion, IL. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage. He also retired from the Veterans Administration in North Chicago, IL where he worked as a welder. He also worked part-time at Howe School in Beach Park, IL.
John was a long-time member of Grace Missionary Church, where he served as an usher, in the kitchen, and as a maintenance helper. His hobbies included woodworking ,painting, gardening, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed doing projects around the house.
He is survived by his wife, Yolanda; son, John (Courtney Hill) Balitchik of Gurnee; daughters, Janet (David) Perry of Bristol, WI and Lynn (Robin) King of Green Bay, WI; granddaughter Erica Ehlers of Kenosha, WI; grandsons, Michael Ehlers of Kenosha, WI and Justin (Sinjoni) King of Morgan Hill, CA; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Balitchik and brother, Michael Balitchik.
John will be inurned at Mount Olivet Memorial Park Zion, IL Saturday June 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. and will receive honors from active United States Navy as well as the Zion American Legion. A memorial service will be held Saturday June 22, 2024 at noon at Grace Missionary Church 1425 27th Street Zion IL, 60099. .
