John A. Coady, of Zion, IL peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 30, 2024. John was born July 7, 1935, in Ishpeming, MI to John and Pearl Coady.
In 1953, John married Marlene Anderson in her hometown of Marquette, MI. John was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Navy for 4 years and retiring from the United States Coast Guard as Petty Officer 1st Class SK1 with 19 years of service. After retirement from the Coast Guard, John worked as a delivery driver for BC Automotive in Zion, IL. Over the years John was a member of the Elks Club, VFW, American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed golfing, walking his dog, Mellow, and giving others a helping hand.
John is survived by his children, Sue (Dan) Larsen-Whipple and Steve (Lori) Coady; grandchildren, Jessica (Casey) Roberts, Daniel (Amy) Whipple, Dana (Travis) Knapp, Kimberly (Rob) Jones, Steven M. Whipple, Stephen P. Whipple, Autumn Coady, and Emily (David) Matousek; 9 great grandchildren and brothers, Dale Coady, Robert Coady and Brian Coady.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marlene; parents, John and Pearl Coady; son, Terry Coady and grandson, Daniel “Danny” Larsen.
