John L. Langdon, 88, formerly of Waukegan, IL, was reborn into heaven on Wednesday September 19, 2012, at the Ripley Crossing Nursing Home, Milan, Indiana.
John was born on April 26, 1924, in Spencer, IN. He served with the United States Navy during World War II as a Pharmacist Mate 1st Class, attached to the 1st Marine Division. John was called back to service in 1951 for the Korean War and discharged in 1954. He retired from Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, IL, after 33 years as a Hematology Technician and Department Supervisor.
Survivors include his children, Bobby Dan (Linda) Mattox, John (Lee Ann) Hoinowski, Jacquelyn Jeanne (Keith) Van Schaick, and Doug (Leslie) Langdon; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irma T. Langdon; and parents, Mella Ann and John C. Langdon.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday. A Graveside Interment service will be held on Monday, September 24, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, 1436 Kenosha Rd., Zion. Memorial donations are suggested to the Abiding Love Food Pantry of the Christian Assembly Church, 2929 Bethel Blvd., Zion, IL 60099.
