John "JT" Lawler, 61, of North Chicago, IL, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 18, 2015, in his home.
John was born July 31, 1953, to Joseph and Lillian (nee Hoban) Lawler in Chicago, IL, and was raised in Winthrop Harbor, IL, where he remained a resident until 1990. He graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School Class of 1971. He was a brother to 7 siblings, Lee Gates, Pat (Mary) Lawler, Mike Lawler, Fran (Dan) McCormick, Dorothy (Larry) Fowler, Larry Lawler, and Mark (Brenda) Lawler. John will be remembered by many for his bright blue eyes, his great memory of events and quick wit, but most of all his sense of humor. True story.
He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Brooke (Juan) Zavala and Lauren Lawler; 3 grandkids, Gavin, Zavier, and Oaklie Zavala; and granddogs. He also survived by a good friend, Shelton Reid.
John was welcomed with arms wide open by his daughter, Erin Michelle; parents, Joseph and Lillian; and brother-in-law, Jim Gates.
JT will be missed dearly by numerous family members and friends.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park. Interment is private for the family.
