John Lowren Spiker

John Lowren Spiker, age 84 of Collinsville, IL, born September 8, 1940, in Raub, IN, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

John worked as a traveling accountant for the railroad, retiring after 43 years of service. He worked for Chicago and Northwestern Railroad and retired from Union Pacific Railroad. He loved building model train layouts and collecting train memorabilia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Willard and Daisy Viola (nee Williams) Spiker; and three siblings: Donald, Louise and Lela.

He is survived by his loving wife, Iva (nee Wilkins) Spiker, whom he married January 6, 1962 in Chicago, IL at St. Jerome's Church; three sons: Brian Spiker, John (Darlene) Spiker and Andrew Spiker; a daughter, Laura (David) Snow; four grandchildren: Jessica Snow, Emily Snow, Daniel Spiker and John Spiker; a brother-in-law, Marvin Schluttenhofer; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation will take place Sunday, January 5, 2025 at the Congdon Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Committal service will take place Monday, January 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.
