John R. Waldron, 89, of Zion, IL died on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
John was born December 21, 1922 in Winding Gulf, WV. He met his future wife, Jacqueline, at a USO in Chicago during World War II and has been a resident of Illinois since. He was a Veteran of World War II having served with the United States Navy in the South Pacific and of the Korean Conflict having served with the Merchant Marine. John retired from Goodyear Hose Plant in North Chicago. He was a member of CrossWay Community Church of Bristol, WI. He also belonged to the American Legion.
Survivors include, Jacqueline Waldron of Bristol, WI; children John R. "Bob" (Jan) Waldron of Trevor, WI, Tom (Terry) Waldron of Winthrop Harbor, IL, and Suzanne Bieri of Kenosha, WI; five grandchildren Dawn Higgins, Victor (Andrea) Waldron, Faith (Dan) Daumler, Steve (Heather) Waldron, and Mercy Bieri; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother James (Fern) Waldron of Arlington Heights, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends and church family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter Mia Leigh Bieri; his son-in-law Bob Bieri; and his father George Tobias Waldron.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. at CrossWay Community Church, 13905 75th Street, Bristol, WI 53104, with Pastor Steve Moore officiating. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until time of services at the church. Memorial donations to CrossWay Community Church has been suggested.
