Joseph E. "Joe" Hoffman, 73, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, died on Friday, March 16, 2012, at Hospice Alliance Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
Joe was born August 10, 1938, in Libertyville, IL, and graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 1957. He served in the United States Army Reserve right after high school. Joe married Linda Davis on January 8, 1966, at Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park. He retired from Komatsu (formerly International Harvester) in Libertyille after about 26 years of employment as a welder. He then worked for Morton Manufacturing in Libertyville for 5 years. Joe was a member of the Waukegan Bowmen Archery Club for over 50 years. He enjoyed meeting monthly with his retired co-workers from UAW Local 1643. Joe loved to hunt and golf with his "buddies." He took pride in his gardening and got much pleasure out of sharing his tomatoes with family and friends. His major enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and especially being "Poppa" to his grandchildren.
