Joseph Paul McGrath, 74, of Beach Park, Illinois, passed away on May 22, 2024.
Joseph was born on March 8, 1950 in Patuxent River, Maryland the son of Thomas Dana, and Odette Claude (De-Sevige) McGrath. He graduated High School and joined the Navy working as a boiler technician and earned his Bachelor's in Science while serving. He married Felicitas Bada on October 27, 1978 in Waukegan, IL. While stationed in the Navy he lived in Florida; Charlestone, SC; Great Lakes, IL; and San Diego, CA. Once retired from the Navy Joseph worked for Motorola.
Joseph was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church, was a Knight of Columbus, and belonged to a small faith group at the church. He was also a member of the VFW in Winthrop Harbor, IL. He enjoyed watching football, playing on his computer, planting vegetables in the garden, reading history books, and traveling on cruises visiting the Blue Danube River, and British Isles.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Felicitas McGrath; daughter, Elizabeth (Thomas) Bunsen; nephew Willie (Bhel) Romero; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews in the Philippines.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas, and Odette McGrath; and sister, Priscilla Smith.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Brigid Parish-Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park, Illinois 60099. Inurnment will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Sheridan National Cemetery in Lake Bluff, IL.
