Joseph "Joe" Prosen, 61, of Beach Park passed away September 1, 2013 at home surrounded by his friends and family. Joe was born March 26, 1952 in Waukegan and graduated from Warren Township High School in 1970. He married Rosa Reyes on August 10, 1990. Joe was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Humility Church, where he also served as an usher. He worked for Ammco Tools for 18 years until 1995 when he started working for National Gypsum. Joe was the organizer of a horseshoe league which took place at his home, and was also a long time member of bowling leagues at Bertrand's and Sunset Bowl. He enjoyed cars, especially anything Pontiac. He was a loyal and dedicated man to his family and friends, and was known for giving everyone he knew personalized nicknames. Joe was a positive impact on so many people. Joe is survived by his wife of 23 years, Rosa Reyes-Prosen; 8 children, Chuck Hart, Diana (Kenny) Vincent, Nereida (Jerome) Cole, Kathleen (Brian) Wainscott, Monica Lindy, John (Camille) Reyes, Donny (Megan) Reyes, and Joseph "Joey" Prosen III; 12 grandchildren; 3 sisters Jean (Mike) Kana, Julie (Mark) Hamby, and Jennifer (Tom) Snell; dear Aunt Carol "A.C." Shebenik; and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Slak; and mother-in-law Petra Jimenez-Reyes. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 Wadsworth Road, Beach Park, IL with Father Valerian Laini, officiating. Interment will be private for the family. Visitations will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion; and again on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family would be appreciated.
